Raining in January?!

Well, once again I have found myself writing a blog while I should probably be doing something much more important, like finishing my history paper that is due in an hour, or filling out my roll for SI, etc. I have decided to post another cartoon. Once again its Friday and once again I found a cartoon that made me chuckle. Maybe I will make it a tradition. Also, I would like to add this, Family, start writing blogs. It provides me with entertainment while I should be doing more important things. And I like to hear what goes on in your life. If you don't write blogs then I must resort to wasting time on facebook looking at the pictures of people that I went to high school with that I would never actually talk to in real life. My final thought, it has been raining all day, and yesterday. And since it is winter, the rain turns to a nice sheet of ice when it hits the ground, making it nearly impossible to walk anywhere, making my daily walk to campus a life or death situation. I would just like to say that I have found another great artist. His name is Ray LaMontagne. I have no idea how to pronounce his last name, so I have decided we are on a first name basis and I will just call him Ray from here on out. The point of the story is that I quite enjoy Ray's music. Happy Thanksgiving!

I would just like to tell everyone that today I completed my research proposal presentation for my Senior Research Seminar class. Hooray! This means that I am completely done with all my mjor requirements! Hazzah for being done with something. Now I just need to figure out what I want to do with my major....

I hope everyone loves Thanksgiving this year and remembers everything they are thankful for. Here is my list:

I am thankful for my family: Mom, Dad, Matt, Bethany, Rebekay, Rachel, Debi, Sean, Dan, Leah, Izzy, Heidi, Lucy, and even Mika and Boston (yes Boston too).

Update

Holy cow. It is already October. Fall is by far my favorite season. However, winter seems to be coming a little too soon because it snowed all weekend here in Logan. Its ok though, I am hoping that it will warm up and I well get to bask in perfect fall weather for at least a week or two.

I would just like to announce that I have finally registered to vote. Some of you might be very alarmed by this because I am a political science major. But its true, I have never voted because I was never registered to vote. But I decided that I should do my civic duty and vote in the next election. I'm not sure who I am going to vote for yet, and I don't think I will decide until I enter the voting booth. If you have any candidate preferences, feel free to try and persuade me.
On a completely different note, I was thinking about Christmas break lately and what I want to do for my birthday this year. Maybe its because me and my roommate listened to Christmas music as we got ready this morning, maybe it is because it snowed, or maybe it is just because I want to have the most rockin' birthday ever this year. Whatever the reason, I need some sweet ideas of what to do.

Another exciting thing that has happened is that my all time best friend Torrie got her mission call last Friday! Hooray! She is going to serve in the San Salvador, El Salvador West/Belize mission. I am way excited for her, but I will be really sad when she leaves.

Finally, I just want to let everyone know about my new favorite song. I don't even know what it is called, but is by a guy named Cameron McGill who I saw this summer at Kilby Court. Turning a New Leaf

Well, here I am writing in my blog. So on Saturday I moved up to Logan to start my very last year of college, and so far its been pretty strange. For the past three school years I lived in the same apartment with pretty much the same people, but this year I decided to mix things up a bit. I am now living in a completely different place with completely new rooommates. So far its been ok, but the new location of my apartment might be hard to get used to. I live at the bottom of probably the two steepest hills in Logan, Ut, and I have to hike up them every morning. Its ok though, it will be good excercise. I am pretty worried about when it snows though, those hills are sure to become icy traps of death, but somehow I'll manage.

I do have some fabulous news. So last year I was part of this class called the Huntsman Scholars program where I got to go to New York and DC, and have an amazing class experience with two amazing teachers. Since its my senior year I was unable to do the program agian, but I still get to work for the program. Basically they have invited all the old students to be mentors to the program, and the best part is that we all get paid $1,000 each semester! Hooray! I basically just have to help students understand the program, talk to them about their classes, help market the Huntsman scholars program, and go to lunches with adults and pretend I am really smart and that I have high ambitions in life. So here's a shout out to Jon Huntsman for giving me so much money and free food. He's a real winner.

I am pretty excited for this semester, but its going to be tough. Its pretty much my last real semester of school. I hope I haven't packed my schedule too tight. I am just going to have fun and work hard while it lasts, because once I graduate I have to start real life, and figure out what I want to do. The Most Eventful Week of My Life

So far this summer hasn't been dissappointing and I have done a lot of things, but this passed week tops it all. My goal this summer was to try and have as much fun as possibe, not that Bountiful isn't the most exciting place on earth, but I was a little worried that my summer would be really lame. So here are just a few of the fun and crazy things that have happened. I hope you enjoy!

A few weeks ago some friends of mine visited that I worked with at Camp Lochearn in Vermont last summer. That was amazing. It was so much fun, and I will admit that it kind of made me want to go back to Vermont. It was cool to get to play tourist in my own state for a little bit, and it made me realize that there are a lot of things to do here, and that I really like living in Utah.

Anyways. On to my crazy week. Well first of all my #4 niece was born on Memorial Day, her name is Lucy Cameron Miller, but you all probably know that since the only people who read this are members of my family. That alone was super exciting. She is so perfect and little, and beautiful. I am one lucky aunt. The next awesome thing that happened was that I got to meet MATT COSTA! Ok, so for those of you that don't know who Matt Costa is, you should get to know him, well at least his music. Check out his website here at mattcosta.com. He is one of my favorite artists and I had been planning on going to his concert for like two months. So the day finally came and I had been bugging my co-workers about how excited I was for it. That day at lunch, a boy I work with named Layne asked if I wanted to meet Matt, and I was like, heck yes I do. It turns out that he had won free tickets to the End Zone (101.9 radio station's private performance thingy) and he asked if I wanted to go with him. It was so awesome. I got to meet Matt, and hear him sing some sweet songs, and I got two free tickets to the concert that I gave to my friends ( since I already had my ticket). So that night I went to the concert and he was amazing. It only made me like Matt Costa's music even more. It was the best day of the summer so far.

Sorry this is so long, but there is one more event from last week. On Thursday there were some exciting happenings, but not quite in the same genre of excitement as my niece or Matt Costa. To sum it up, I pretty much almost died. To make a long story short, while me and my co-workers were planting a flowerbed, a girl drove off the road and slammed right into our trucks and if our trucks hadn't of been there she could have plowed right into all of us who were in the flower bed. It was a pretty big wreck and there were cop cars, and ambulences everywhere, but thankfully none of us were hurt. Firemen had to use the jaws of life to get the girl who was driving out of her car, but we are pretty sure that she is fine, her car was just so smashed that they couldn't get her out. It was a crazy freak accident, and I have no idea how she ran off the road, but we think it involved the use of her cell phone somehow. That is the second time I have seen a driver just drive off the road for no apparent reason. It was really pretty sad because the truck that she ran into was my favorite. Jimmy, may you rest in peace (Rachel will understand my sorrow), but really if you think about it that truck pretty much saved our lives, so at least he went out on top. I am just glad that everyone was ok (everyone but Jimmy), because it could have ended a lot worse than it did. So the moral of the story is, wear your seatbelt because it really will save your life (it saved this girl's life) and don't text while driving, because you may run into a flowerbed.

So that was my crazy exciting week. Definitely worth blogging about. I wonder what adventures will happen in the rest of the summer. I am going camping this weekend in Moab, and maybe something exciting will happen there. Who knows, just as long as no teenage girls drive their cars at me anymore...
